Re: Suggestion: Use current currency exchange rates.

As a fellow Australian,I hope they keep the Microsoft Points. You know why?Because it actually works out better for us this way.

Have you ever looked at Games on Demand? It uses actual currency and the prices are an absolute joke. One example is Halo Wars.I think it's $70 here and $30 in the US.Look at PS3,it uses real currency, but are the prices cheaper than XBL?Surprisingly no.For a DLC worth 1200 Microsoft Points (Which is around $19.80 if you buy your 1500 points card for $25 or less) it is priced at $24.95 for the exact same thing on PS3.For Americans that is priced at $15 on both,so we still get screwed over a little on Xbox, but not as much. You also have to take into account the price of Microsoft Points hasn't really changed over the years as the exchange rate has changed. So we used to be paying about the same, but now our economy is better, they haven't adjusted the price of Microsoft Points accordingly.

I'm just saying,if they put real currency on Xbox,we'd probably still get ripped off,but even more than we do now.Companies are never going to follow the exchange rates properly. If they implement real currency, you'd get charged transaction fees, more taxes and all those lovely things,or if you decided to buy a card from the shops instead, you'd wind up with a whole bunch of 5 cents left on your account that you can't spend on anything.

What I suggest they do is adjust the price of Microsoft Points so they are brought into line with the current exchange rate.Trying to get retailers to abide by that may be difficult, but they could at least fix the price on the console for people who buy direct with paypal/credit/debit cards. With the price of gold memberships, you can buy those online for less than $50 a year if you know where to look. The codes for gold subscriptions are not region locked. The codes for Microsoft Points, however, are locked by region.I know a few websites, but I won't post them here as it's probably against the rules.
